Song of the Week

"Come on Eileen" by Dexy's Midnight Runners

So this is one of those songs that I've grown up with and it takes me back everytime I hear it. I love to sing, dance, clean... you name it, to this song. It has always been one of my absolute faves. So I just learned what the bands name stands for; bummer. It all has to do with drugs. Oh well, I guess that's why they were just a one-hit wonder! Enjoy.

So I love the song too, and I felt real dumb not know what you were talking about when you said it had to do with drugs. This is what I found...

Eileen was a girl that songwriter and band member Kevin Rowland grew up with. Their relationship became romantic when the pair were 13. The song describes the thin line between love and lust.

The band's name was inspired by the amphetamine drug Dexedrine, which is commonly known as "Dexys" (Contrary to popular belief, the band's name does not have an apostrophe). The band itself steered away from drinking and drugs, saying nothing should interfere with their dedication to music.

Thought it might make you feel better about the song.

I love this song too, who doesn't?!? Oh I meant to tell you that our friends Rhonda and Jeff Green just moved to Little Elm. Don't know which ward they are in but if you happen to meet them tell them I said hey! They're great people!
